Health Guarantee

Seller guarantees this dog to be in good health at the time of sale.  Umbilical (belly button) hernias are common in Shih Tzu and are not considered a health problem. If the opening is small, with only a fat pad (no intestines) protruding, it will likely close by itself as the puppy matures.  As with the slightly pinched nostrils caused by teething, many vets unfamiliar with the breed are much too quick to recommend surgery.  It is recommended the dog be allowed to mature before making a decision if surgery is needed.  A good time to correct this is when the dog is spayed/neutered. Should the veterinarian want a hernia removed, the price will not be paid by seller.
Seller guarantees this dog for three years against hereditary defects that could result in death.  We will replace the dog upon return of said animal with first available puppy chosen by seller.  Seller is not responsible for any expenses occurred by buyer.  In the event of the death of the dog prior to three years from a hereditary defect a full necropsy report including stomach contents must be provided from a University of Veterinary Lab.  As proper nutrition is very important, this guarantee is only valid as long as buyer continues to feed recommended commercial dog food. We recommend only ProPlan Chicken and Rice Original Formula in both Puppy and Adult.
The purchaser agrees to take this dog to a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of the time of purchase for a complete health check.  Should the dog be determined to be in ill health the cause of  which is clearly attributable to the seller the dog may, upon presentation of a written diagnosis from the above veterinarian, be returned to the seller.  The purchase price will then be refunded or the dog replaced for another dog of equal value, the choice of which to be determined by the seller.  Costs of return trip or shipment to be paid by purchaser.
The purchaser agrees to keep dog at their home and away from public places (veterinarian’s office allowed) for one week after purchase, or on a puppy, until after the third and final puppy vaccination. Should the dog develop a major communicable disease (i.e.  distemper, parvovirus) within ten (10) days from the date of sale, the seller must be notified immediately and will provide instructions for refund or replacement of dog provided written proof from a licensed veterinarian is presented.

Purchaser’s Agreement

Purchaser agrees to be responsible for the dog’s well-being, food, shelter, medical care, etc..  Seller will not hesitate to repossess dog at any future time due to neglect or abuse by purchaser.  Neglect or abuse will be determined by an unbiased third party, such as a humane officer or veterinarian.
Dates for neuter/spay and terms of sale are to be adhered to, or the dog will be returned to seller.
In the event repossession would be necessary, purchaser understands that none of the purchase price will be refunded and he/she will attempt no action against seller.  It is also agreed that all AKC registrations and the like will revert to seller and be duly signed and prepared for transfer.
If at any future date purchaser is unable or does not want to keep dog, purchaser will return dog to seller at no cost to seller, or after notifying seller find a suitable home.

We, the undersigned have read and understand the above agreement.  We agree to follow its provisions.  We also acknowledge that any disputes or litigation resulting from this contract will be settled in the county of origin, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
